Dean of General Studies

Dr Cheryl BaharIt is my absolute pleasure to welcome you to  Gottesman RTW Academy, a place that is dedicated to the individual child. Our devoted staff strives to get to know and appreciate every child in the school. This integral relationship not only applies to a child's classroom teacher; it extends to all the teachers and assistants, the administration, specialists, office staff, and the nurse. Your child is entering an environment where we nurture both the head and the heart.

I started my career as a classroom teacher in Toronto, Canada. After teaching for several years, I went back to school for my master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and then a doctorate in Special Education from the University of California, Los Angeles and California State University, Los Angeles. I started working at GRTWA in 2006, and my husband and I are honored that our three daughters attend(ed) the school.

It has been my pleasure to get to know the students at GRTWA and it is my steadfast commitment to get to know every child in the school. A focal point of my work here has been to define and examine ways in which GRTWA can deliver academic excellence to all students. We are taking off in an exciting direction that will offer a tremendous opportunity for our students to exercise their critical thinking, problem solving, and interpersonal skills. This comprehensive movement towards updated technology, an enhanced curriculum, and careful interdisciplinary amalgamations make it an exciting time to be a GRTWA student. In addition, our dedication to the social and emotional well-being

The willingness to investigate what is not working and subsequently make the appropriate modifications is vital to the ongoing success of our student body. We are always reviewing and revising current curricular and instructional practices so that we can offer our students an optimal technologically infused learning environment. The dual curriculum gives a tremendous opportunity for our students to exercise their critical thinking, problem solving, and interpersonal skills. Even our youngest students at GRTWA are encouraged to formulate and articulate mindful and rational points of view.

The administrators and faculty at GRTWA are devoted to lifelong learning, being open to change and the expectation that we can help our students thrive both academically and emotionally. We look forward to an exciting and challenging school year.

Sincerely,

Dr. Cheryl Bahar
